It’s finally springtime in Washington DC! The cherry blossoms are in bloom and we are busy with children’s rooms this month.

1. Wall murals don’t have to be super big to make an impact. Try a vignette. These walls are painted to match the baby’s bedding from Pottery Barn. Sometimes an entire mural is too much, so why not a simple vignette? Each wall was painted with a little scene of bunnies or lambs.

2. Break up the walls with decorative chair rail and wainscot. The chair rail is painted with fun polka dots, and below the chair is a coordinating plaid.

3. Skylines are great for boys and girls, whether you have a princess or a prince. Here is a skyline fit for a princess! How about a Washington DC skyline, or New York for your superhero?

4. Colorful stripes highlight colors in the rug. Stripes in the playroom with colors pulled from the throw rug add some simple fun.

5. Colorful stripes pull colors from two rooms together. A shared bathroom uses colors from the two bedrooms in a crisp and clean stripe.

6. Take a chance with color. Trees don’t have to be brown trunks and green leaves. Here we kept the colors fresh and bright with the white and purple, perfect for a nature loving little girl’s room.
