Don’t mean to scare you with the amount of options we have for custom furniture and glazed cabinets! (Humor me, it’s almost Halloween). This is only a taste. You make (or find) just the right furniture piece. We can paint it with just the right finish and color.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL FAUX FINISH
- Know your budget. We can make adjustments to technique and materials to accommodate any budget. So if you love the sparkle of gold but not the price of gold leaf, we have painted options that are sure to please.
- Bring fabric swatches and paint colors. Your fabrics and surface selections will help us design our painted finish. Share these at our initial design visit so we can create the perfect sample.
- Plan for shipping. Painting furniture (even glazed cabinet doors) in the studio allows for the best results. Make sure to allow for delivery costs in your budget.
BEFORE AND AFTER
DC Design House has always been a fun playground of new ideas and interesting colors. Following are photos of several DC Design Houses we were part of, showing the sample with their finished project. Pretty spectacular!

Dragged Finish in Coral
Shazalyn Cavin Winfrey had the dining room at DC Design House 2012. She designed beautiful vignettes for the large room including a striking china cabinet next to the dining table. We glazed the cabinet in one of the accent colors pulled from the fabrics. The terrific grapefruit color added to the wow factor you look for in a room you want to spend time in.

Malachite Finish, Green
Emerald green has been the “it” color for a while, I see it moving into a deeper olive this year. Marika Meyer Interiors used that great color with a painted malachite finish on these two parsons style console tables in the dining room for DC Design House 2014. The simple parsons style was the perfect foil for this complex finish.

Painted Cabinet
Sally Steponkus had the master bedroom in 2010 and was presented with this built-in to work around. She could have played it safe and painted it white, but instead had us glaze the piece and hand paint the doors with these charming cameos and bell flower swags. Now it’s a focal piece that adds to the classical design aesthetic that Sally is known for.

Silver Scenic
You simply couldn’t find a screen this size. Wendy of Danziger Design had this made especially for the 2012 DC Design House as a dramatic backdrop for the upholstered headboard. The bedroom was a soothing selection of grays and silvers with a pop of red. We hand painted the screen with vignettes of Venetian architecture and a soft, antique metallic finish. Old world techniques in the ultimate sophisticated boudoir.

Game Table

Verde Bamboo Finish
Lastly, our most recent DC Design House 2017 project, for Marika Meyer Interiors. The Lady’s Lounge has the perfect corner to tuck in a game table. We glazed the table legs to accent the bamboo details and applied a faux Verde Bamboo Granite finish to the top. So clever! In this photo from The Scout Guide, the table is staged for a game of Bridge with our custom playing cards.
So, do you have a piece you don’t know what to do with? Or a need a piece to fit a special project? This is the perfect opportunity for us to work together!
