Happy Earth Day!
Leave the paper plates on the shelf! Today is the perfect day for outdoor entertaining So enjoy the garden and a beautifully dressed table.
You’ll always see us outside once the weather is warmer. Getting outside to celebrate Mother Earth is the perfect time of year to get my outdoor entertaining ideas jump started. I love seeing everyone’s outdoor designs start popping up in my social media feed to get me inspired.
Entertaining at home is looking a little different for us right now. To spark a little joy in our celebration I’m leaving the paper plates in the cabinet and opting for a beautiful tablescape for two. I pulled out the Kismet custom fine china place settings in blue and white and added little bud vases. The vases are found items that I pulled from the china cabinet. Finding new ways to use my “old” things makes me happy. The African Violets are cut from my great grandmother’s plants. I can’t believe they’ve lasted so long in my care! I love those soft leaves next to the shiny dishes.
Continuing our theme of paper-plate-free design, I’m using these sweet hand painted napkins. Each one is a different insect. If I had a larger crowd it would be fun to let each guest know which napkin design was their place setting. I would choose the dragonfly for myself. The napkins are linen with a hemstitched border. We painted these with washable paints so they can go in the washer after lunch.
The colorful napkins are the perfect foil against the classic blue and white custom fine china place settings.
Take a tour of the tablescape and our first victory garden! We’ve planted a veggie and herb garden, partly for entertainment, partly to fill the pantry.
