Creating Custom Fine Art

October 9, 2017

It’s sometimes hard to turn off our painting brains at the end of an inspiring day. Creating custom fine art in the smaller scale of framed artwork is the perfect place to apply our creativity. Inspiration for these custom fine art pieces can come from colors, textures, an event in the news, even a beautiful day! Shop our fine art or commission a custom piece, perfect to help designers find the perfect fine art for their next project.

Landscapes

Landscapes easily evolved from our mural projects. We bring the same soft elegance to our framed landscapes that you’ll find in our full size murals. The landscape (above) was commissioned with specific colors to coordinate with the carpet, and designed to fit over the mirrored console. Creating custom fine art is an easy solution for finding just the right piece.  | Interior design by Danziger Design

Fine Art Woven Amy Collins Matthews Galaxy painting

Abstract Expressionism

From the start of Billet Collins, we worked with designer Mary Douglas Drysdale whose savvy art collecting included work from DC artist Sam Gilliam. We were lucky enough to paint his home with gallery owner Annie Gawlak. Gilliam’s work and his creative curiosity is part of what inspired Amy Matthews to explore her own art. [Find more of Sam Gilliam’s artwork here. Annie Gawlak’s website here.]

Amy’s work is a reflection of the colors and techniques she works with every day, to express a moment in time or a feeling. Her art is imbued with complex layers of color and pattern. The organic appeal of her work is achieved through unique and ever changing techniques, each creating an element of surprise and mystery. Gravity is used to pull the paint across the canvas, demonstrating the spirit of a rainy day. Chemical reactions between paint, solvents and other materials is used to achieve its own unique visual effect.

These custom fine art pieces have been included in DC Design House to support the Children’s National Medical System, exhibitions with Starbucks, and in the private collections of DC’s finest homes.

Giclee Art

See something you like but need a different size? No problem. Many of our pieces are available in giclee. Our giclee art is printed in America using top quality cotton canvas or paper. All of our materials meet or exceed the standards set forth by the Fine Art Trade Guild for pH and lightfastness.

Creating Custom Fine Art Tips

  1. When creating your custom fine art, choose your colors. Pull out your fandeck and select the colors that work in your room. Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, Farrow and Ball or Pantone are our favorites.
  2. Select a size. Can’t find something to fit that super-scaled wall? Pull our your measuring tape and give us a call.
  3. Make it easy and browse the shop. We have an ever growing selection of fine art with sizes and descriptions. Click here to shop fine art.
